A Manhattan federal court jury has awarded a New Jersey carpenter paralyzed in a subway construction accident $44 Million – including $5 Million to his wife.
Dmitry Okraynets, now 39, was installing concrete slabs at South Ferry in August 2006 when his harness came loose, he fell 12 feet and a slab landed on him, crushing his spine.
“He is wheelchair bound,” lawyer David Jaroslawicz said. “He’d been living the American dream . . . His wife had just had a baby.”
